Propofol is an effective agent for rapid, reversible sedation in the NICU that does not alter the neurologic exam, except for pupillary size. However, with prolonged propofol use wake-up times increase. Vital signs remain unchanged except for a drop in MAP, which should be anticipated with propofol infusion. |
